Apollon Kutateladze Tbilisi State Academy of Arts invites you to the opening of an exhibition held in solidarity with the artists whose works were destroyed in the fire that broke out earlier this year in the central exhibition space of Sukhumi.
The exhibition primarily features works from the collection of the Academy’s Museum, showcasing course and diploma projects created between the 1950s and 1980s.
The project is funded by the LEPL Abkhazian Agency for Culture, Sports, and Youth Affairs. As part of the initiative, the works in the Academy Museum’s collection have been organized, restored, conserved, and framed. The project is expected to continue, with future plans including the further curation of the museum’s collection and the publication of a catalog.
Opening: November 20, 19:00
Address: Al. Griboedov N22
Students of the Faculty of Fine Arts at the Apollon Kutateladze Tbilisi State Academy of Arts have the opportunity to submit their works (posters) for an exhibition that will take place in Berlin, Germany, at Volkssolidarität, in May 2025.
The project, titled “Work Show. Window Project” – “Art in the Window,” aims to showcase student artwork in an innovative format.
The primary goal of the exhibition is to promote the works of Academy students beyond Georgia. Berlin was chosen as the exhibition venue because it is one of the most significant centers of contemporary art, attracting numerous renowned artists, curators, and art historians who will have the opportunity to see the students’ works.
The project is curated by Lili Furstenow-Khositashvili, who conducted research on Anselm Kiefer at Humboldt University in Berlin with the support of a DAAD scholarship. Under her leadership, this project has been running for three years, presenting contemporary art in an experimental format—not in a traditional gallery, but in public spaces, accessible to everyone.
To participate in the exhibition, students must submit a photo of one or more posters via email, along with a detailed description (concept and all relevant details). A special jury will select up to 40 of the best posters from the submissions. These selected works will be printed in Germany and exhibited. Additionally, the chosen posters will be featured on the project’s website: www.e-mergingartists.art.
Submission guidelines:
The poster(s) must be submitted as a JPG file.
The accompanying information (work description: title, technique, dimensions, year; as well as the author’s biography and/or CV) must be submitted in DOC format in Georgian, English, or German.
The biography should include details about scholarships, awards, art residencies, publications, and exhibitions (if applicable).
Participants are free to choose the topic, materials, and dimensions of their work.
Each participant may submit either a single work or multiple works (as a series).
Submission deadline: January 23
Please send your artwork (JPG format) and accompanying information (DOC format) to the following email:
