In March 2005, the Faculty of Computer Arts, Graphic Design and Visual Communications was opened at the Academy. Since March 2006, the Caucasus Institute of Photography and New Media has been integrated into the faculty, and later it was named the Faculty of Media Arts.

In 2007, a new animation studio was created, where students master various techniques of creating an animated film (painting animation, puppetry, plasticine animation, sand-powder animation). To date, the studio’s film library has 29 titles of short animated films, 16 of which have been awarded prizes and diplomas at international student festivals.
