ERASMUS
On May 23, within the Erasmus program, representatives of the Karel de Grote University of Applied Sciences, Arts St Lucas School of Arts, Antwerp, Belgium, visited the Faculty of Fine Arts of the Apollon Kutateladze Tbilisi State Academy of Arts: Kurt Vanbelegem and Laura Braspening. The guests met the dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts and the heads of departments and students

On May 13-17, the Erasmus partner of the Apollon Kutateladze Tbilisi State Academy of Arts, at the invitation of the Sofia National Academy, was on mobility in Bulgaria, the vice-dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts of the Art Academy, Professor Otar Chakvetadze. He conducted a workshop for students, met with representatives of the Faculty of Fine Arts of the Sofia Academy, and held talks on future cooperation, joint projects, and exchange of students and academic staff

Hubert Bujak, professor of the master’s degree program of the painting department of the Academy of Wroclaw, Poland, of the ERASMUS partner institute of TSSA, visited the Faculty of Fine Arts of the Apollon Kutateladze State Art Academy of Tbilisi. Within the framework of the visit, the guest met the rector of TSSA, the dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts, and TSSA representatives, got acquainted with TSSA training programs, and conducted a presentation and workshop for painting and graphics students. Negotiations were held on future cooperation.

The two winning contestants of the Dresden International Plainer were revealed on May 13, 2024. The team of the Dresden International Plainer, composed of German and Georgian artistic directors, revealed the two winning contestants for “Palais Sommer 2024.”
The winners are: Mariam Okribelashvili and Mate Tskvitinidze, students of the 4th and 3rd year of painting at the Tbilisi State Academy of Arts. In July 2024, they will travel to Dresden, create open-air canvases, and participate in the “Culture. Synchronization” exhibition.

A competition is announced for students of the III and IV years of the painting department of the Tbilisi Apollon Kutateladze State Academy of Arts—Faculty of Fine Arts, which will reveal two new participants of the Dresden International Plain Air.

The Dresden International Plain Air is the main component of one of Germany’s largest cultural and educational festivals, Palais Sommer. The students of the Academy of Arts have been involved in it since 2013, at the initiative of the project’s founder, honorary professor of the Academy Alexander-Aleko Adamia (1962-2019).

The competition involves two stages: the students’ works are considered in general and by the plain air specifications, which are selected by the German and Georgian artistic directors of the project. Then, the selected candidates are interviewed. The winners will travel to Dresden, create works with German artists, and participate in various cultural activities. The festival fully funds all travel, living, and working expenses.

Mark your calendars for April 12, as the Apollon Kutateladze Tbilisi State Art Academy hosts a master class by the esteemed American graphic artist and comic creator, Tom Grindberg.
Grindberg’s notable collaborations with publishing houses and studios include:
– DC Comics: Action Comics (Superman, Batman, Detective Comics, Captain Atom, Hawk and Dove)
– Marvel: Conan the Barbarian (Recipient of the Best Conan Artist Award), Spider-Man, X-Factor, Avengers, Daredevil, Venom

On April 8, Ms. Zuzana Dirda, a professor specializing in graphic arts from the ERASMUS partner institute of the Academy of Arts in Wroclaw, Poland, visited the Faculty of Fine Arts at the Apollon Kutateladze Tbilisi State Academy of Arts. During her visit, Professor Dirda toured the graphics department’s studios, familiarized herself with the educational processes, and held discussions with the rector of the art academy, the department head, and other representatives of the academy.
