The Ministry of Culture has unveiled a competition aimed at fostering creative initiatives in the field of fine and visual arts across Tbilisi and the regions.

Competition Title: Promotion of Creative Initiatives in the Field of Fine and Visual Arts in Tbilisi and Regions

This initiative, spearheaded by the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Georgia, seeks to encourage and support innovative endeavours in the fine and visual arts sector, fostering cultural vibrancy and artistic expression throughout the country.

The Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia and the French Institute of Georgia are pleased to announce the joint Research Internship Program Grant Competition for 2024.

Competition Abbreviation: GFI

Competition Objectives:

  1. a) To foster scientific collaboration between Georgia and France, facilitating joint participation in international scientific research projects.
  2. b) To stimulate the initiation of scientific cooperation between French and Georgian scientists and support the professional growth of young Georgian researchers.

Project Application Type: Individual

This program offers a unique opportunity for researchers to engage in collaborative research endeavors, contributing to the advancement of scientific knowledge and fostering international cooperation between Georgia and France. We encourage all eligible individuals to apply and seize the opportunity to enhance their research capabilities and network with peers from both countries.

The Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) are pleased to announce the 2024 grant competition for the joint “Rustaveli-DAAD” scholarship program.

This program is designed for:

  • Young scientists (citizens of Georgia) who have been awarded their doctoral degree no more than 12 years prior to the announcement of the competition.
  • PhD students.
  • Doctoral students of joint doctoral programs.

The grant competition aims to fund projects that include internships at German higher educational institutions and/or research institutes, covering the following subjects:

  1. a) For young scientists: The scholarship duration is between 2 to 6 months.
  2. b) For PhD students: The scholarship duration is 3 months.
  3. c) For doctoral students of joint doctoral programs: The scholarship duration is 6 months.

Internships must take place between June 1 and November 30, 2024.

This opportunity provides a valuable experience for Georgian researchers to engage in collaborative research and academic activities with their counterparts in Germany. We encourage eligible candidates to apply and take advantage of this enriching opportunity.

 

Today, on February 28, the Erasmus+ National Office in Georgia is organizing an information day about the Jean Monnet program. This event aims to provide insight into the opportunities offered by Jean Monnet, facilitate an exchange of information regarding international and local practices, and offer a platform for questions and discussions.

We encourage you to share information about this event within your university community. For those planning to attend remotely, registration is mandatory and open until February 27, 2024, at 4:00 p.m.

The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) announces grant programs for Georgian researchers.

Two Competitions Announced:

  • International Scholarship for Outstanding Researchers
  • International Scholarship for Young Researchers

These grant programs offer researchers a stipend, travel expenses, insurance, and per diem. The project duration is 24 to 36 months.

LEPL Apolon Kutateladze Tbilisi State Academy of Art will conduct its student self-government elections on March 7, 2024. The elections will take place online from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

These elections will determine student representatives both within faculties and for the composition of the representative council. We encourage all eligible students to participate actively in this democratic process.

 

 

 

The Embassy of the United States of America in Georgia, in collaboration with the Smithsonian Museum of American Art, is pleased to continue its series of online public lectures.

For the month of February 2024, our focus is on African-American History. The topic of this virtual meeting is: “Exploring the Smithsonian American Art Museum’s Collection of African-American Artists.”

We will delve into the social themes portrayed by African-American artists in their works, encompassing civil rights, the struggle for freedom, social change, and more. Our presenter, Lillian O’Connell from the Smithsonian Museum of American Art, will guide us through this enlightening presentation.

2. IMPRESSIONIST DRAWING CLASS
The course is conducted in English language
The aim of the course is to teach students working in pencil and charcoal and to perfect their
drawing skills. During the course, students will create thematic and free compositions. There will be
Indoor practice (still life, model) and outdoor practice.
Course duration: 40 academic hours; 2,5 months
Class meeting and working days: Saturday and Sunday; 15:00- 16:45 h.

Theodore Mouxigouli
Born in 1975 in Tbilisi, Georgia.
Graduated M.A. in fine arts from Central Saint Martins, London, in 2003.

Had number of exhibitions, mostly in London, including solo shows, such as Painting Obscura at
Wilton’s Music Hall in 2008, following the eight months residency in the Hall, which led to the story
featured in Soft Need #23, the book published in 2020 and co-edited by Udo Breger, a good old
friend of William Burroughs.
Among his other solo exhibitions are the pop-up show Vignettes in 2012 on the King’s Road, Chelsea,
curated by Serena Morton, and a show of six artists, Art Comes Home (2012–2013), curated by
Serena Morton again at Home House in Portman Square, London.
Along with other exhibitions, he was a part of a group show at Annely Juda Fine Art, the
contemporary art gallery in London, curated by Fordham Gallery.
His latest works, consisting of collages and bricolages, Heart for Every Fate, were exhibited recently
in Tbilisi, Georgia, as part of Motus, the show of three artists, in Hermit Space in 2022.
Among other projects, his work experience includes a two-year job as a technical assistant for
Damien Hirst, working exclusively on the artist’s first ever Pill Cabinet for a display at the Gagosian,
New York.
Also worked as a personal assistant for the Turner Prize nominee Tomoko Takahashi for her show at
Tate Modern, London.
After spending 20 years in London, he now lives and works in Tbilisi, Georgia, serving the same
cause.
