Currently, over 120 million people are displaced worldwide, seeking safety far from home to escape war, violence, and persecution. The number of internally displaced people has doubled in the last decade, reaching a record high.
One of the priorities of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Georgia is to raise awareness about the challenges faced by refugees, especially among young people. To address this, UNHCR Georgia has signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Tbilisi State Academy of Arts and is announcing a competition for students of the Faculty of Fine Arts!
Topic: “Hope Far From Home – The Experience of Forced Displacement”
The competition will be judged by a special jury, and the three winning works will receive prizes. In addition, the winning pieces will be used in the branding of UNHCR Georgia in the future.
Prizes:
• 1st Place – 3500 GEL gift card for City Mall
• 2nd Place – 2500 GEL gift card for City Mall
• 3rd Place – 1500 GEL gift card for City Mall
In December 2024, an exhibition will be held at the Art Academy to showcase all the competition entries.

A one-semester Erasmus+ mobility selection competition is announced for students of the Faculty of Design, Fashion Design Department at Tbilisi State Academy of Arts (TSSA). The selected student will attend the High School of Art in Castellón, Spain during the spring semester of the 2024-2025 academic year.
Required Documents (to be submitted to the Dean of the Faculty of Design, Head of Fashion Design, and the Commission in English):
• Portfolio
• CV
• Mark sheet (in Georgian)
• Letter of motivation
• English language certificate (B2 level) or proof of English proficiency issued by a TSSA foreign language teacher
• Application for participation (with a photo of the application after registering it at the TSSA office)
Eligibility: Students from the 3rd year of the bachelor’s program or higher, and master’s students are eligible to apply.

From May 27-31, within the Erasmus+ institutional agreement between TSS and Tartu University-Pallas University of Applied Sciences High School of Arts, Asmat Tkeshelashvili, professor of restoration, participated in a mobility program. The workshop, titled “Methodology of Paper Conservation in the Academy of Arts and Georgia: Printed Paper Cleaning – Dry and Wet Methods, Japanese Paper”, was conducted for students at Tartu University.
